Hoʻoilina

April 2022

The Kennedy Theatre

The realistic lighting of this production is intrinsically linked to Hawaiian ideas about light and is rooted in the notions of Ao and Pō. While interpersonal disagreements over the will and legacy of Mrs. Ellis threaten to turn her children against one another, the spirits and environment work to reunify the family, and as we head further into the realm of Pō these spiritual forces become more active.
